Eric Trump, Melania Trump set for White House UFC fight on South Lawn

President will host a UFC fight on the White House South Lawn on Sunday night, and the guest list is built around his family. First lady is expected to attend, along with , , Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner, in one of the most unusual uses yet of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

The event will draw about 5,000 guests onto the South Lawn and roughly 85,000 more to the National Mall’s Ellipse, where fans will watch the card on giant screens. Rows of bleachers are going up around the octagon for special guests and members of the military, while the White House columns at the North entrance are being repainted and new plants are being added to the lawn.

Sunday also marks Trump’s 80th birthday, giving the night extra weight for a president who has made combat sports a public part of his political brand. In April, he attended a UFC fight in Miami with Ivanka at his side, but Melania usually skips fights even though she has attended them before. Her appearance on Sunday puts her in a setting she has often avoided.

The setup is sprawling. The UFC is using the South Lawn for the fight itself, the North Lawn as a staging area for fighters, and the Eisenhower Executive Office Building for makeshift locker rooms, including rooms such as the Indian Treaty Room. Some fighters may walk to the Octagon from the Oval Office, and weigh-ins will happen publicly at the Lincoln Memorial, which is closed to visitors while temporary staging is erected.

is also expected back at the White House for the occasion with her husband, Nicholas Riccio, as she remains on maternity leave after the birth of her second child. Her return underscores how broadly the event reaches across the Trump orbit, from family to staff to the military guests being placed near the cage.

The seven-bout card is headlined by a lightweight title fight between champion Ilia Topuria and interim champion Justin Gaethje. The only real unknown left is whether the White House crowd will be complete once the gates open Sunday night, but the answer to the bigger question is already clear: the Trump family plans to treat the South Lawn like a ringside box for the president’s birthday.
