Insomniac announced Monday that EDC Las Vegas will expand into two consecutive weekends in 2027, staging an "EDC Dusk" weekend from May 14-16 and an "EDC Dawn" weekend from May 21-23 and wrapping both with a citywide "Dusk Till Dawn" experience that stretches across 12 days.
Pasquale Rotella, who runs Insomniac, framed the change as a reinvention. "I’m really excited to introduce ‘Dusk Till Dawn’ as the next evolution of EDC and offer new ways for Headliners to experience the music, art, connection and community that make this festival so special," he said, adding that: "We wanted to reimagine EDC as a new type of immersive journey across 12 days and two consecutive weekend celebrations in one city we love."
The practical pieces are already public. The festival will return to Las Vegas Motor Speedway for the 2027 edition. One-weekend passes are priced from $399.99 general admission all-in up to $899.99 VIP all-in, while two-weekend passes start at $599.99 general admission all-in and go up to $1,699.99 VIP all-in. Layaway plans for all pass types will be available beginning with a $5 deposit. Tickets go on sale Friday, May 22, at 12 p.m. local time at.
Officials told FilmoGaz the 2027 festival is designed to run at lower capacity and provide more room for attendees, and Rotella said expanding the event to 12 days will reduce congestion inside and outside the festival and bring ticket prices down to where they were a decade ago. He added that Headliners will be free to choose whether to attend "EDC Dusk," "EDC Dawn" or the full program: "This concept gives Headliners the freedom to choose their own path and join us for one or both weekends, while enabling us to continue evolving, experimenting creatively, and sharing new moments Under the Electric Sky."
For people who have been coming for years, the expansion is both welcome and overdue. Kobee Acosta, who has attended EDC every year since his first time in 2017, said the festival has grown cramped. "Yeah, so this year was actually my ninth time going to EDC," he said. "The first time ever went was in 2017 and I've been going every single year since." He told FilmoGaz, "I feel like everybody has been hoping and like asking for this because the festival is really busy" and that certain areas are "really tight."
The 12-day plan also comes with a broader push beyond the speedway. Insomniac announced a "Dusk Till Dawn" slate of curated EDC-themed events throughout Las Vegas that will extend beyond the festival grounds; one company announcement listed May 14-24 as the full experience, another listed May 13-24, a discrepancy that underlines the scale of the rollout and the work remaining to finalize dates and details.
Local business and logistics officials emphasized the economic and operational footprint of an event that has ballooned over the last decade. Bryan Kroten, speaking about past editions, described the spectacle from above: "EDC always touts under the electric sky, and we tout over the electric sky, just the glow, the colors, the, you know, to know there's 175,000 plus people beneath you." Kroten noted how production needs have expanded — "The first year we did EDC, we used one helicopter. This year we used more than 25 helicopters, and we've grown exponentially with EDC." Mike Nolan, pointing to hotels and downtown attractions, said occupancy will fill rooms and that visitors have plenty to do while in town.
What remains undisclosed is the creative core: details about artist lineups, themes, stage programming and the full slate of citywide events will be announced later. That gap is the story's tension: Insomniac is committing to a dramatic structural change in how it stages the festival without yet showing how it will program 12 days of activity without diluting the experience that made EDC a sellout draw in 2026.
Organizers are explicit about their aim and have priced and packaged tickets to try to get there. Given the lower-capacity design, the two-weekend calendar, the $5 layaway entry point, and Rotella's public pledge to reduce crowding and lower prices, the answer to whether this will relieve congestion and cost pressure is clear: Insomniac has restructured EDC Las Vegas 2027 to do exactly that, and the next test will be whether Headliners buy the new rhythm when tickets go on sale May 22 at noon.
