Cord Cutters News: Plex Adds 15 Free Live TV Channels, Expands 600+ FAST Lineup

added 15 new free live TV channels at the start of June, immediately expanding the streaming app’s free Live TV lineup for users across devices.

The concrete change is small and clear: 15 channels were added to Plex’s live roster. That increase arrives against a larger backdrop — Plex now offers more than 600 FAST channels — and the new additions pushed the free Live TV section higher without requiring any subscription or sign-in.

Users can watch the freshly expanded lineup by opening the Plex app and selecting the Live TV option from the top menu. Plex’s free content can be streamed without a Plex account, and the app is available on a wide range of platforms, including , Google TV devices, Amazon Fire TV, Samsung TVs, LG TVs, Xbox, PlayStation, Android and iOS.

Among the newly added channels are , and . Plex did not publish a full list of all 15 channel names, but those three are already visible in the Live TV guide alongside hundreds of other free channels.

Plex’s move is part of a program that began in 2019, when the company first started adding free movies, TV shows and live TV channels to its offering. For viewers tracking cord cutters news, the practical effect is the same as other free-ad-supported services: more no-cost viewing choices available on existing hardware without extra fees.

The friction here is obvious. Plex is best known as an app for hosting and organizing a personal media server, but over the last few years it has also become a free streaming service with thousands of free movies and TV shows and hundreds of live channels. That dual identity — personal server tool and large FAST streamer — is now visible in the Live TV menu users open to find their local and themed channels.

Practically speaking, the new channels are available immediately on any device that runs the Plex app; there is nothing to download beyond the usual Plex update cycle and no paywall to cross. If you already have Plex on a Roku, a Google TV device or a Fire TV stick, for example, open the app and use the top-menu Live TV tab to see the additions alongside the rest of the 600-plus FAST lineup.

The update leaves one clear unanswered item: Plex has not confirmed whether more channel additions are scheduled or how often it will refresh the Live TV roster. The company expanded its free catalog steadily after 2019, and this June bump added 15 channels at once, but Plex has not announced a cadence or a roadmap for future additions.

For viewers who pick hardware and services by available free channels, this matters now: Plex’s Live TV section just grew, the additions are available without an account, and the app supports the major streaming devices and consoles. The single practical question going forward is whether Plex will keep adding channels at this pace — for cord cutters, that will determine how quickly Plex can further close the gap with other large free-streaming catalogs.
