Sega is believed to have filed copyright takedowns that removed allegedly leaked Persona 6 character art and a new logo from social media just days before this weekend's Summer Game Fest livestream and the Xbox Games Showcase.
The removals replaced multiple posts showing grainy images — a blond-haired boy in a school uniform and a girl with black-and-red hair — and, later in the week, what appeared to be a clearer look at a green "P6" inside a circle. Various instances of that concept art and logo were scrubbed and replaced by copyright takedown notices.
One poster affected by the notices, who uses the handle Dkmariolink, posted: "Got a DMCA takedown request by Sega," and added, "Not posting it again, but if you know, you know." Several noted Persona leakers reportedly verified the artwork as legitimate, and Persona Central suggested the images originated from an outsourced animation team.
The timing matters: the enforcement came in a narrow window when fans were already expecting a formal Persona 6 announcement in a matter of days. It has been a decade since Persona 5 launched in 2016, and the series has received a notable push on Xbox since 2022 — a push that included P4R: persona 4 revival arriving on Game Pass last year and Persona 5: Royal being announced to land on Xbox Game Pass on June 9.
Despite the takedowns, numerous more examples of the leaked material remained online, leaving a mixed result for the removals. Further leaks this week showed the better logo image, but sizable portions of the supposed concept art remained accessible across platforms even after copyright notices began appearing.
IGN asked Sega for comment. The company has not publicly confirmed whether it issued the DMCA requests or whether the leaks reflect finished assets, but the pattern of enforcement — removing the same images ahead of two major weekend showcases — is the clearest public signal yet that the publisher is trying to contain unapproved distribution in the run-up to the events.
Practically, fans tracking the story should pay attention to this weekend's schedule: Summer Game Fest and the Xbox Games Showcase are the immediate events where a formal reveal could appear, and media outlets planned watch-alongs for the shows on June 7 at 10am Pacific / 1pm Eastern / 6pm UK. The removals also increase the chance that any official reveal would be coordinated with Xbox, given the franchise's recent activity on that platform.
What to watch for on the streams: an official trailer or logo reveal that matches the green P6 in a circle currently circulating, a release-window announcement, and any sign that Sega will position Persona 6 alongside the platform moves tied to Game Pass. If Sega does not announce the title this weekend, the takedowns will remain the most visible sign that a reveal had been anticipated in the immediate pre-show window.
Given the takedowns, the provenance claims by Persona Central and the leak verifications reported by several leakers, the reasonable conclusion is that Sega is preparing for a controlled, near-term reveal — and the only way to resolve the remaining uncertainty is to watch this weekend's Summer Game Fest and Xbox Games Showcase.
