Trump Forgets ‘Alzheimer’s’ While Discussing Father’s Health Issues
In a recent interview with New York Magazine, President Donald Trump, 79, struggled to recall the term “Alzheimer’s” while discussing his father, Fred Trump’s health. Fred, who passed away in 1999 at the age of 93, had few health issues, according to Trump. He described his father as having a “heart that couldn’t be stopped,” but mentioned that he started exhibiting signs of cognitive decline around 86 or 87 years old.
Trump’s Health Interview Insights
During the interview, Trump insisted that he is in “perfect” health. He was accompanied by two doctors from Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, emphasizing their professional status. Colonel James Jones, one of the doctors present, confirmed Trump’s excellent health status.
Concerns About Physical and Mental Health
- Questions surrounding Trump’s mental and physical health have increased, especially considering he is the oldest president at 78 years old.
- Trump will turn 80 on June 14.
- Previous concerns include visible bruising on both hands, attributed to frequent handshakes and aspirin use.
In addition, Trump was seen with bruises at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. His press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, noted that one bruise occurred after Trump hit his hand on a signing table.
Medical Imaging and Assessments
In October, Trump raised eyebrows by disclosing that he had undergone an MRI without clarifying its purpose. The White House later classified it as a routine examination. However, Colonel Jones clarified that the procedure was actually a computed tomography (CT) scan, not an MRI.
Jones explained that the tests ruled out any concerns common for patients of Trump’s age. The outcome was reported as “perfect,” despite ongoing speculation about Trump’s cognitive abilities.
Cognitive Function and Public Perception
Despite challenges regarding his cognitive health, Trump claims to have “aced” multiple cognitive tests taken during his presidency. He stated, “I’ve taken now three cognitive tests. I’ve aced every single one of them.”
Concerns regarding his mental fitness have been voiced by several public figures, including Minnesota Governor Tim Walz. He highlighted troubling remarks made by Trump that raised eyebrows, indicating a need for vigilance regarding the president’s mental capacity.
As discussions about age and health continue to surround Trump, both his physical and cognitive well-being remain key topics of interest as he approaches his 80th birthday.
