  • Broken context when a developing story is updated and older wording becomes inaccurate

3) Clarifications vs. Corrections

Not every update is a correction:

  • A correction fixes an error.
  • A clarification adds context or improves wording without changing the underlying facts.
  • An update adds new information as a story develops.

4) How Corrections Are Made

When we confirm an error:

  • We correct the article as quickly as possible.
  • We aim to reflect changes clearly and responsibly.
  • If the error is significant, we may add a correction note to the article indicating what was changed.

5) Timelines

We aim to review correction requests promptly. Response time can vary depending on complexity and the availability of reliable verification, but urgent factual issues are prioritized.

6) Removal Requests

We generally do not remove published articles simply due to disagreement or reputational concerns. However, we will consider removal or major revision in exceptional cases, including:

  • Clear legal requirements
  • Verified safety or privacy risks
  • Demonstrably false content that cannot be corrected without fundamentally changing the story
