Fitness: Lexington woman last seen leaving Planet Fitness; search finds no trace

Lexington police say 39-year-old was last seen on June 11 after signing in at the at 560 Whiteford Way at 6:40 p.m., and they are asking the public for help locating her.

Officers say Moore walked away from the Planet Fitness toward the wooded area behind the near that gym while wearing an olive green zip-up hoodie and black athletic pants; she is described as 5'7" and about 120 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. Lexington police released a photo they say shows Moore inside the gym and identified her as a personal trainer at in Lexington.

Surveillance footage later that night placed Moore at 9:17 p.m. walking through the parking lot at 100 Old Cherokee Road, heading in the direction of Old Cherokee Road. Police said they believe she had a phone with her but that the device was not pinging on Monday, and officials do not yet suspect foul play nor believe Moore is in imminent danger.

First responders focused search efforts on the woods behind Lowe's: police used drones on Friday and officers returned Monday to canvas the area, but investigators said they found no trace of Moore in the wooded land. That absence from the search zone is notable because the surveillance footage places her in the general area again later the same evening.

Moore's family and friends have urged anyone with information to come forward. "This is very out of character for her," said . "We're just hoping tips come in." Silcox added, "Even the smallest tip could be the biggest thing for us to crack open this case."

Lexington police gave precise points they checked: the Planet Fitness at 560 Whiteford Way where Moore signed in at 6:40 p.m., the wooded area behind Lowe's that teams searched with drones, and the Publix lot at 100 Old Cherokee Road where the 9:17 p.m. footage shows her walking toward Old Cherokee Road. Investigators are continuing to canvas neighborhoods and recheck video from businesses in the corridor.

The gap investigators emphasize is Moore's movements after the Publix footage. Police say they have confirmed the gym sign-in and the later parking-lot video, but they have not located Moore or recovered her phone; where she went after 9:17 p.m. remains unknown. Anyone with information is asked to call the Lexington Police Department at 803-358-7271.

Moore's disappearance has drawn attention in the local fitness community she worked in; FilmoGaz previously carried other pieces on fitness topics and local athletes, including coverage of Ibrahim Mbaye on Koulibaly’s fitness and team choices, which underscore how the word fitness covers both profession and reporting in this town. Those stories are available at and

Investigators say the case remains active and that community tips are the next critical step; the central unanswered fact is simple and urgent — where did Elena Katherine Moore go after she was seen at the Publix at 9:17 p.m.? Police are asking anyone who saw her or who has dash-cam, doorbell, or other footage from that stretch of Old Cherokee Road on June 11 to call 803-358-7271 immediately.
