Saturday is shaping up to be the best day of the Dayton Air Show weekend, with spectacular weather expected as high pressure settles in over the area. Morning sunshine will give way to a few clouds in the afternoon, and low humidity should make the warm temperatures feel more comfortable than they otherwise would.
The picture changes fast after that. Sunday is expected to turn unsettled as a cold front moves through, bringing a chance of showers and storms, gusty winds and a high near 78. Tonight will already trend cloudier, with a few showers and storms possible late and a low of 68.
For people headed to the air show, that means Saturday should be the safer outdoor bet and Sunday the day to watch closely. The forecast calls for showers and storms to be likely on Sunday, and while no schedule changes or cancellations have been announced, the weather could complicate activities if the storms arrive during the event.
After the front passes, a cooler and drier air mass should settle in for a couple of days, with highs in the 70s on Monday and Tuesday. The break will not last long. Additional showers and storms are expected to develop midweek, and temperatures are forecast to climb back into the low 80s in the middle to late part of the week.
So the weekend forecast for the Blue Angels and everyone else planning to spend time at the Dayton Air Show is straightforward: Saturday looks bright and pleasant, Sunday looks far less cooperative, and the most unsettled weather is likely to arrive just as the weekend begins to wind down.
