Multiple people were injured in a shooting near Toledo’s Old West End Festival on Saturday evening, sending police to Delaware Ave. and Glenwood Ave. just after 5:30 p.m. Officers found that several people had been shot and took the injured to area hospitals for treatment.
The extent of the injuries was not immediately known, and investigators were still working Saturday evening to determine what led up to the shooting. A Toledo police spokesperson said at 6:30 p.m. that officers were actively searching nearby areas for those involved, and police asked the public to avoid Delaware and Robinwood Avenues while the response continued.
The shooting unfolded near one of the city’s better-known neighborhood events, turning a festival area into an active crime scene in a matter of minutes. Police had not yet identified the alleged shooter or shooters as they continued looking in surrounding blocks, a gap that left the key question of who opened fire unanswered even as the search widened.
Anyone with information was asked to text or call Crime Stoppers at 419-255-1111, and callers can remain anonymous. For now, the immediate focus in this Toledo shooting is finding the people involved and figuring out what set off the gunfire near the festival.
