Two dump trucks and a small school bus crashed Thursday morning on North Main Street in West Hartford, leaving the road closed for hours and prompting a police investigation that included the state DMV's commercial motor vehicle unit.
West Hartford police said minor injuries resulted from the crash, and adult operators later reported minor injuries. The incident was reported at 8:08 a.m., and North Main Street stayed closed between Old Meadow Road and Tumblebrook Lane through the morning as drivers were sent to King Philip Drive.
The closure came at a busy stretch of roadway near Hall High School and Northwest Catholic High School, where access remained available from the north to south direction even as traffic was diverted. Traffic maps still showed the road shut at 11:15 a.m., underscoring how long the disruption lasted.
West Hartford Police posted just after noon that the roadway had fully reopened. The remaining unanswered question is what caused the crash in the first place, and investigators have not yet said.
