Cupra Raval Launches as Flagship of New Compact EV Lineup
The launch of the Cupra Raval marks the introduction of a new compact electric vehicle line from the brand. This model is one of four planned vehicles in Cupra’s lineup, which also includes the VW ID. Cross and the Skoda Epiq. The Raval was showcased at the IAA event last year, where its design was partially revealed under a special vinyl wrap. Recently, Cupra unveiled the final production version, free from any camouflage.
Cupra Raval Overview
Measuring 4.05 meters in length with a 2.60-meter wheelbase, the Raval offers a sporty compact design. Its dimensions include a width of approximately 1.78 meters and a height of 1.52 meters. The design draws inspiration from the UrbanRebel concept first shown four years ago.
Design Features
- Sharknose front design with sharp lines
- Matrix LED headlights
- Flush-mounted, illuminated door handles
- Striking rear with diffuser and 3D lighting effects
- Choice of seven exterior colors and eight alloy wheel designs
The interior follows the latest Cupra design language, similar to the face-lifted Born model. It features a 10.25-inch cockpit display and a 12.9-inch touchscreen that operates on an Android-based system. Additionally, it includes physical buttons on the steering wheel and a unique sound inspired by Formula E in specific driving modes.
Technical Specifications
The Raval utilizes the MEB+ platform, characterized by front-wheel drive and a sportier suspension setup. Its sports suspension is lowered by 15 millimeters, with a 10-millimeter wider track compared to the baseline. The dynamic chassis control system features adaptive dampers with up to 15 adjustment levels.
Powertrain and Battery Options
There are four power output variants available for the Raval, measuring 85, 99, 155, and 166 kW. The two lower-powered models are equipped with a 37 kWh LFP battery, while the more powerful options feature a 52 kWh NMC battery. The expected range for the vehicles varies based on the battery size:
- 37 kWh battery: up to 300 kilometers
- 52 kWh battery: up to 444 kilometers
- VZ version range: 379 to 381 kilometers
Regarding charging capabilities, the 52 kWh batteries can achieve 10 to 80 percent charge in 24 minutes at a maximum of 105 kW. A standard three-phase AC charger rated at 11 kW is included with all variants.
