Air Canada Expands Cafes in Montreal and Vancouver, Growing Network to Six

Air Canada is expanding its unique Air Canada Cafe concept, introducing two new locations in major Canadian airports. This strategic move brings the total number of Cafes to six, enhancing convenience for travelers.

New Locations in Vancouver and Montreal

The recently opened cafes are situated in Vancouver International Airport (YVR) and Montreal-Trudeau Airport (YUL). Each of these hubs already featured an Air Canada Cafe, but the new additions aim to further improve traveler experience.

Vancouver Airport Details

  • Location: Domestic departures area, Concourse C, near gate 50
  • Size: 4,489 square feet
  • Seating Capacity: 84 seats

The second Air Canada Cafe at YVR showcases a full-service bar offering barista-made coffee, craft beers, and local wines. The menu features seasonal and locally sourced items, including:

  • Vegan curry bao
  • Freshly made vegetarian Kimbap
  • Sweets from Lee’s Donuts of Granville Island

Montreal Airport Features

  • Location: US Preclearance facility

The new cafe in Montreal is inspired by the city’s “third wave” coffee culture. It offers a menu that includes Montreal classics, such as:

  • Smoked meat sandwiches
  • Fresh bagels
  • Vegan soup by Sagamité Watso
  • Pistachio croissant pastries

Guests can also enjoy a variety of beverages, including wines from L’Orpailleur Winery and gin from distillerie du Fjord.

Access to Air Canada Cafes

Access to the Air Canada Cafes is granted to specific traveler categories, including:

  • Business class ticket holders
  • Star Alliance Gold members
  • Aeroplan premium co-brand cardholders
  • Aeroplan 50K, 75K, and Super Elite members

The Future of Airport Lounges

This expansion reflects a trend in airport lounges, aimed at providing quick and easy food and drink options. The grab-and-go format is gaining popularity, allowing travelers to skip lengthy lounge stays in favor of more privacy at quieter gates.

The success of this concept indicates that Air Canada is committed to evolving travel convenience and remains a leader in the lounge experience sector.
