Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has made it clear that he is enthusiastic about retaining Pickens. In a recent interview, he highlighted his ongoing communication with the receiver. According to Jones, “I’m talking to George all the time by virtue of my excitement for him.” He noted Pickens’ critical contributions to the team’s success and his potential for future growth.

Jones recalled similar aspirations the Cowboys had when negotiating with linebacker Micah Parsons. Those discussions soured, leading to Parsons’s trade to Green Bay, following his discontent regarding his fifth-year option. He stated, “There’s nothing fragile about [Pickens] or his makeup,” emphasizing the receiver’s passion for football and his strong camaraderie with teammates.

While Pickens avoided the issues he faced during his tenure with the Pittsburgh Steelers, there were still moments of tardiness. Jones humorously acknowledged, “I’ve missed a few [meetings] myself. Something came up.”
