Shinedown Exits Kid Rock’s Rock the Country Festival

Shinedown has officially withdrawn from the Rock the Country festival, which connects with the MAGA movement. The band expressed concern over participation in an event they believe may foster division. In a social media statement, they emphasized their mission to unite rather than divide audiences.

Other Artists Leaving the Festival

Shinedown is not alone in their decision. Several prominent artists, including Ludacris, Morgan Wade, and Carter Faith, have also chosen to exit the touring festival. Kid Rock, a notable investor and headliner of the event, is tied to its controversial reputation.

The festival’s lineup has seen further changes. Creed, another band initially slated for the festival, is still listed on some pages despite their future at the event being uncertain. A representative from Creed noted they had not received any updates regarding their participation.

Event Details

Despite these withdrawals, Rock the Country is set to continue this spring and summer. The festival will feature multi-night events in various cities across the U.S. Artists slated to perform alongside Kid Rock include:

  • Jason Aldean
  • Blake Shelton
  • Jelly Roll
  • Brooks and Dunn
  • Miranda Lambert
  • Hank Williams, Jr.

However, the Anderson, South Carolina date of the festival has been canceled due to “unforeseen circumstances,” according to Fox Carolina. Other artists like Ludacris and Gretchen Wilson were also scheduled to appear at that location but are no longer listed on the festival’s website.

Community Commitment

Rusty Burns, a County Administrator, stated that they are planning additional major events for the community’s enjoyment. He assured residents that Anderson County is dedicated to providing high-quality arts and entertainment.

Political Background of the Festival

While the Rock the Country festival does not directly endorse a political agenda, it has previously served as a platform for political commentary. In 2024, performances included political messaging, indicating links to former President Donald Trump. Notably, Gavin Adcock, a featured performer this year, has vocalized political opinions during events.

This year’s festival promotional materials highlight it as “A Festival for the People,” celebrating “250 years of Freedom.” As preparations continue, the festival’s evolving lineup reflects ongoing changes and controversies surrounding the acts.

Shinedown’s Recent Activity

Shinedown released their last album, “Planet Zero,” in 2022. Alongside this, they put out singles such as “Searchlight” in November of the same year. Their withdrawal from the Rock the Country festival aligns with their commitment to inclusivity and unity in music.
