Kansas City Weather: Severe storms possible Saturday night before calmer stretch

Severe weather was possible in the Kansas City area Saturday night, but the storms were expected to be moving out by late night, around 10 PM to midnight. The brief window left residents with a narrow stretch of unsettled weather before conditions improved for the start of the new week.

Saturday night was expected to stay mild, with a low of 59 degrees and north wind at 10 to 15 mph. The bigger concern was the evening period, when storms could turn severe before easing out of the area.

After that, Sunday was expected to turn partly to mostly cloudy, cooler and less humid, with a high of 75 degrees and north wind at 10 to 15 mph. Monday was set to feel more settled, with partly cloudy skies, a low of 57 degrees, a high of 79 degrees and west wind at 10 mph.

For Kansas City-area residents, the forecast left the same basic message through the weekend: keep an eye on the evening Saturday window, then expect a quieter, more comfortable pattern by Sunday and Monday. The only unresolved question was how strong the storms would become before they passed through.
