An AMBER Alert was issued in South Salt Lake, Utah, on the morning of the report for 9-year-old Raymond Vigil after officials said he was abducted by 33-year-old Marie Erika Lynn Marsh. Police said the alert was active as they asked the public to help find the boy and the woman believed to have taken him.
Officials described Vigil as 4 feet 8 inches tall, 130 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a red Nike shirt, Nike sweatpants and white Nike shoes. Marsh, whom officials identified as a non-family member, was described as 5 feet 4 inches tall, 150 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.
Police said Marsh was believed to be driving a white Ford with a temporary tag, possibly a Ford Fiesta or Ford Focus. That detail is the most immediate lead in the case, because it gives drivers and officers something specific to watch for while the search continues.
What officials did not explain was how Marsh knew Vigil or how the abduction happened. They also did not say where the child was taken, and there was no confirmation in the alert of a recovery or arrest.
Anyone with information was asked to call 801-840-4000 or dial 9-1-1. The public notice was part of an active search in South Salt Lake, where the identifying details were meant to move quickly before the trail went cold.
