“American Idol Eliminates Two Contestants, Unveils Top 7 Finalists”
Lionel Richie offered an update on the newest addition to his family. He spoke about daughter Sofia Richie Grainge and Elliot Grainge’s baby boy, Henry.
Disney Night on American Idol
Monday’s April 20 episode featured a Disney-themed show. Contestants performed songs from films like Hannah Montana: The Movie and The Lion King.
Guest mentor Jennifer Hudson joined the panel. The 44-year-old Idol alumna finished seventh on Season 3 and later earned EGOT status.
Mentor and Judges’ Feedback
Hudson worked with the singers as judges Carrie Underwood, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan watched. She praised several performers during rehearsals and live stages.
Hudson called 18-year-old Lucas Leon an “old soul.” She compared Jordan McCullough’s voice to “an anointing.” She also teared up when Keyla Richardson sang “Circle of Life.”
Surprises and Moments
Former contestant Rae returned to the stage after her earlier elimination. She did not sing. After Brooks Rosser’s stripped-back take on “The Climb,” Rae announced a relationship moment, saying, “The princess is here to claim her prince,” to host Ryan Seacrest.
Results: Viewers Decide
America voted to determine who advanced. Hudson told the hopefuls, “This is the start of your career,” before results were revealed.
American Idol eliminates two contestants following Disney Night. The series now unveils its Top 7 finalists for the next round.
