Buy GM’s New UTV-Inspired Pickup Today
General Motors’ defense division is offering a rare vehicle at auction. The 2026 GM Defense ISV-U will cross the Barrett-Jackson block on Saturday, April 18th.
Origins and context
GM has supplied military vehicles for decades. The company spun off its defense subsidiary in 1950 and has worked on platforms like the Humvee and Stryker.
It also supported chase vehicles for the U-2 Dragon reconnaissance program. The ISV-U continues that lineage of tactical transport solutions.
What the ISV-U is
The ISV-U stands for Integrated Squad Vehicle-Utility. It begins life as a Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 before GM Defense transforms it for tactical use.
Engine and suspension remain from the donor truck. The 2.8-liter Duramax turbo diesel and Multimatic DSSV shocks are retained.
Modifications and equipment
GM Defense removes the standard bodywork and installs a robust roll cage and a rear cargo bed. The build emphasizes light weight, speed, and off-road agility.
Rugged features include BFGoodrich KM3 run-flat tires on beadlock wheels and armored skidplates. The chassis has C-130 tie-down points and mounting panels for weapon systems.
The vehicle can accommodate crew-served weapons up to a .50 caliber and modern squad weapons such as the Sig Sauer XM250.
Role and capability
Barrett-Jackson describes the ISV-U as a five-passenger, ultra-light tactical utility vehicle. It is engineered for high-speed mobility and demanding missions.
The flexible layout and cargo bed suit logistics, fire support, command-and-control, electronic warfare, counter-unmanned aircraft systems, and reconnaissance tasks.
Auction and charitable beneficiary
Barrett-Jackson will auction this one-off ISV-U on April 18th. All proceeds from the sale will benefit the Medal of Honor Foundation.
The Medal of Honor Foundation serves as the official philanthropic arm of the Congressional Medal of Honor Society. The auction offers a rare chance to support veterans and obtain a unique military-grade vehicle.
Availability and how to bid
GM Defense does not sell ISV-Us to the general public. This auction provides one of the few legal paths for a civilian to acquire the vehicle.
Fans who want to buy GM’s new UTV-inspired pickup should register with Barrett-Jackson ahead of the sale. Interested bidders should confirm registration and bidding rules on Barrett-Jackson’s site.
