BVB Coach Kovač has introduced a unique strategy to keep players focused. He said the plan aims to preserve motivation into the season finale.
The coach, in charge since February 2025, outlined the scheme at a press conference on 17 April 2026. Players currently get one day off per week, and wins earn a second day.

The incentive failed to produce victory last weekend. Dortmund lost 0-1 to Bayer Leverkusen ahead of the home match with TSG Hoffenheim on 18 April.
Kovač demanded maximum effort with five league matches remaining. He warned against treating the season as already over.

Dortmund have 64 points. Five straight wins would lift them to 79 points.
The club record stands at 81 points from the 2011/12 title season under Jürgen Klopp. This campaign has yielded only three league defeats so far, matching that season’s loss total.
