Jan Blachowicz Withdraws from UFC 328 Due to Meniscus Tear

Jan Blachowicz will not compete at UFC 328 after suffering a knee injury during sparring. His team confirmed the issue on social media Saturday.

Injury and announcement

The Polish veteran tore a meniscus in his knee during his final round of sparring. He announced the setback on Instagram and withdrew from the May 9 card in Newark, N.J.

The event is scheduled to air on Paramount+. UFC officials now list Blachowicz as out of his rematch with Bogdan Guskov.

Fighter background and recent form

Blachowicz is 29-11-2 overall and 12-8-2 in the UFC. He is 43 years old.

He has fought only twice since July 2023. The veteran is currently on a four-fight winless streak.

That run includes a majority draw with Guskov at UFC 323 in December. It also includes losses to Carlos Ulberg and Alex Pereira. Earlier, he had a split draw with Magomed Ankalaev in the December 2022 vacant title bout.

Implications for Bogdan Guskov

Guskov is 18-3-1 professionally and 4-1-1 under the UFC banner. He now awaits a new opponent for the May 9 show.

Matchmakers must rework the light heavyweight portion of the card quickly. Fans and fighters will watch for an official replacement announcement.
