Vito Coppola Reveals Surprise Choice for New Strictly Come Dancing Hosts
Vito Coppola has named several names he thinks could step into presenting duties on Strictly Come Dancing. He spoke to Filmogaz.com at the UK Italian Awards and offered his views on potential replacements.
Potential new hosts
Coppola suggested Fleur East as a strong option. He also mentioned Zoe Ball and Rylan as possibilities.
He picked one unexpected candidate too. Miranda Hart was singled out for her humour and warmth.
What he said about the role
He stressed the importance of sparkle, joy and a good sense of humour. He joked the new presenter would need to cope with his own big personality.
Reaction to the pro lineup changes
The dancer addressed the wave of professional departures from the show. He referenced exits by Luba Mushtuk, Karen Hauer, Nadiya Bychkova and Michelle Tsiakkas.
Coppola said he has not seen many of his former colleagues. He did visit Dianne Buswell’s baby Bowie with Michelle and Nancy Xu.
On career change and gratitude
He reflected on the transient nature of a dancer’s life. Coppola said endings often lead to new beginnings and career shifts.
He expressed gratitude for his time on Strictly and for other projects. He mentioned MasterChef and a new book, and the chance to share dance and cooking on television.
UK Italian Awards recognition
Coppola received the Outstanding Achievement Award at the ceremony. The prize honours long-term contribution, leadership or influence within the Italian food industry.
Organisers confirmed the awards will take place in New York next year. This marks the first time the event will move across the Atlantic.
