Notre Dame Stadium Gears Up for Luke Combs Concert

Notre Dame Stadium is gearing up for a major event on Saturday, April 18, 2026. Country star Luke Combs will play to a crowd expected to approach 80,000 people.

Event overview and crowd size

Organizers expect many first-time visitors to the venue. Notre Dame Stadium has handled large football crowds before. The concert will follow similar logistical patterns to a home game.

Logistics on the field

Lee Sicinski, Notre Dame Event Management executive director, outlined key differences. Unlike football, about 10,000 fans will be allowed on the field for the Luke Combs concert.

Parking, shuttles and tailgate

Campus parking lots open to the public at noon. Merchandise will be available outside the stadium.

Officials recommend purchasing campus parking passes online in advance. Shuttle service will run from the Blue and Gold lots and from Saint Mary’s.

A fan tailgate called “Bootleggers” starts at 2 p.m. The tailgate will be staged in front of Legends on its north side.

Gates and performance times

Stadium gates open at 5:00 PM ET. The first supporting act is scheduled to begin at 5:20 PM ET.

Payment and bag policies

The stadium operates a cashless system for in-stadium purchases. Fans should prepare alternative payment methods.

A clear bag policy is in effect. Permitted items include 12-by-6-inch clear plastic bags, one-gallon clear zip bags, and small clutch bags.

Items such as coolers, non-clear backpacks, and fanny packs are prohibited unless they meet the clear size requirements. Medical bags and equipment are allowed after additional screening.

Community importance

Notre Dame says hosting headline concerts benefits the local area. The university worked to attract the event to showcase the campus and the South Bend–Elkhart region.

Securing such large performances is competitive. Event managers highlighted the effort required to bring national acts to the community.
