Grant’s Return Sparks Mitchell Family Reunion in New EastEnders Preview

Ross Kemp will reprise his role as Grant Mitchell in EastEnders later this month. He last donned the leather jacket in February 2025 during the soap’s 40th anniversary events.

The return sees Grant linked again to Nigel Bates. Paul Bradley plays Nigel, who has young-onset dementia. Nigel was previously offered a place at Grant’s villa in Portugal but stayed with Phil Mitchell.

Family tensions and a long-awaited meeting

New episodes bring a reunion with Grant’s kin. On-set photos show him with siblings Phil and Sam together for the first time since Peggy’s funeral a decade ago.

Estranged son Mark Fowler will contact Grant. Mark is played by Stephen Aaron-Sipple. This will be the first time Mark meets his father in person after discovering his parentage in 2016.

Sam, Phil and the Mitchell home

Sam Mitchell appears in the scenes, portrayed by Kim Medcalf. The pair are working together again after twenty years away from each other off-screen.

One image was taken in the kitchen of No 55 Victoria Road. That address has housed the Mitchell clan for the last sixteen years.

Storyline stakes and broadcast details

Filmogaz.com can confirm the comeback scenes will air on Monday 27 April. Producers promise emocion and friction as Grant tries to reconnect with Mark.

Ross Kemp said the role means a great deal to him. He described involvement in Nigel’s dementia plot as personally significant because of a close family connection.

Production response

Executive producer Ben Wadey welcomed Kemp’s return. He called the Mitchells a defining EastEnders dynasty and said Grant’s presence brings drama.
