Greetings to the Cinematic Universe
NASA astronaut Reid Wiseman captured a striking photograph of Earth from the Orion spacecraft. He took the image shortly after the translunar injection burn.
The photograph
The planet appears to eclipse the Sun in the frame. The view offered a silent greeting to Earth and viewers, with cinematic scale of the universe.
Auroras and zodiacal light
The image shows two distinct auroral bands and faint zodiacal light. The auroras register at the top-right and bottom-left of the frame.
- Two auroras — top right and bottom left.
- Zodiacal light — bottom right.
Artemis II firsts
This picture and another are the first images downlinked from the Artemis II crew. Both photos were released to the public after transmission.
