Cooler Thursday in DC with Fog & Drizzle; 80s Return Friday

Washington-area weather made a sharp turn Thursday. Morning readings fell into the upper 50s and low 60s after Wednesday’s highs neared the upper 80s.

Thursday conditions

Patchy fog and light drizzle affected parts of the region. Fog could thicken during the morning commute north and east of the city.

Showers and storms that moved through late Wednesday have mostly cleared. The remainder of Thursday should be mostly dry with periods of cloud and occasional drizzle.

Temperatures will be cooler to the north and east, and warmer to the south and west. The high is expected near 62 degrees, with damp air making it feel cooler.

Overnight lows will return to the 50s with cloudy and breezy skies. FOX 5’s Taylor Grenda noted the morning temperature range.

Short-term outlook

This cooler Thursday in DC included fog and drizzle, while an 80s return is forecast for Friday. Sunshine will push temperatures back into the 80s for a warm, pleasant day.

The weekend begins on the warm side. Near-record readings are possible on Saturday.

Easter and next week

A frontal system may bring showers and storms on Easter Sunday. The risk will rise from late morning into the afternoon.

Expect a strong cooldown after the weekend. Highs are forecast to fall into the 50s by Tuesday and Wednesday of next week.
