Lander Tops Augusta in Thrilling 1-0 Pitcher’s Duel

Filmogaz.com — Greenwood, S.C. Lander topped Augusta 1-0 in a thrilling pitcher’s duel Friday evening. The game remained scoreless through six innings. Both teams relied on strong pitching and defense.

Pitching duel

Augusta’s Ansley Gibson delivered a stout outing on the mound. She worked into the seventh inning, allowing just two hits and one unearned run.

The low-hit performance kept the contest within reach. Lander’s pitching also limited Augusta’s offense throughout the game.

Augusta offense and missed chances

Augusta collected six hits but could not push a run across. Sam Tener paced the Jaguars with a 2-for-3 night at the plate.

Kelsea Moody and Kaylynn Scaffe contributed base hits. Teagan Hinson and Gibson each added knocks to create traffic on the bases.

The Jaguars displayed patience and worked quality at-bats. Early threats appeared in the first and fifth innings but went unconverted.

Decisive play

Lander broke the deadlock in the bottom of the seventh. A double set the stage for a sacrifice fly that produced the game’s lone run.

Augusta will return to action at Lander University on April 4, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. The Jaguars will seek answers after the narrow loss.
