Giant Dragons Invigorate Broadgate for St George’s Day Festivities
Filmogaz.com reports that Broadgate will host two free community events next month to mark St George’s Day. The gatherings fall on Thursday April 23 and Saturday April 25.
Event schedule
The first event is a drop-in on Thursday April 23. It runs from 11am to 3pm and is open to all.
The second free occasion takes place on Saturday April 25. That day is aimed at families and runs throughout Broadgate.
Activities and attractions
Giant dragons will invigorate Broadgate as part of the St George’s Day festivities. Performers, Morris dancers and live music will add to the atmosphere.
- Giant walkabout dragons and roaming dragon characters.
- Morris dancing and folk music performances.
- Hands-on arts and crafts for children and families.
Heroes Tree and Dragon Trail
Saturday’s programme includes the Heroes Tree. Local Coventry artist Katie O created the interactive chalk mural.
Visitors can write the names and stories of their personal heroes on the mural. The events also bookend a city centre Dragon Trail.
The trail invites youngsters to hunt for St George’s lost dragons around the city centre. Every child who completes the trail receives a prize.
Organisers and message
The events are organised by Coventry City Council and take place across Broadgate. Coun Abdul Salam Khan, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Events, urged residents to attend.
He said the two dates were chosen so more people could join the celebrations. He added the programme will highlight cultural history and honour local heroes and family stories.
Further details about both events will be released soon. Filmogaz.com will update readers when more information becomes available.
