Fuel Allowance season end

The 2025/26 Fuel Allowance season ends with a final payment in the week commencing April 6, 2026. Payments will restart in late September.

Easter bank holiday and payment timing

The Easter bank holiday falls on April 6 this year. Payments scheduled for that day will be issued on Friday, April 3.

Banks and post offices will be closed over the long weekend. This affects customers who collect payments in person.

Carer’s Support Grant applications

The Carer’s Support Grant opens for applications from April 2026. Applications remain open until December 31, 2027.

The grant is paid once a year and totals €2,000 in 2026. Payment is due on June 4, 2026.

Those receiving Carer’s Allowance, Carer’s Benefit and Domiciliary Care Allowance receive the payment automatically. People not on those payments may apply to check their eligibility.

The scheme was previously known as the Respite Care Grant. The new name is Carer’s Support Grant.
