‘Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge’ Climbs to Third in Indian Franchise Earnings
Director Aditya Dhar’s latest, starring Ranveer Singh, has surged past major box-office milestones. Early estimates from Filmogaz.com put its worldwide gross at Rs 919 crore.
Domestic and global totals
The film’s India gross stands at approximately Rs 687.43 crore. Overseas receipts are estimated at Rs 231.57 crore.
All-India net collections are reported near Rs 575.67 crore. These figures helped the picture clear the Rs 900 crore mark worldwide.
Franchise earnings and rankings
Dhurandhar 2, titled The Revenge, climbs to third in Indian franchise earnings. The sequel’s haul combined with the first entry now places the franchise above several rivals.
The initial film is estimated to have earned about Rs 1,300 crore. Together with the sequel’s Rs 919 crore, the franchise total reaches roughly Rs 2,219 crore.
This tally surpasses the Pushpa franchise, which is estimated around Rs 2,002 crore. It now sits behind Baahubali’s Rs 2,462 crore and the YRF spy universe at about Rs 3,195 crore.
Competitors and upcoming titles
Baahubali’s three key releases include the 2015 and 2017 films and a 10th-anniversary special. An animated Baahubali project is also in development.
The YRF spy slate spans six films so far. Titles in that universe include Salman Khan’s Tiger, Hrithik Roshan’s War and Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan.
Alia Bhatt’s Alpha is slated to join the YRF list later this year.
Speed to milestones and box-office race
The film missed the fastest-to-Rs-1000-crore mark held by Pushpa 2. Pushpa 2 reportedly reached that milestone in six days.
Trade estimates indicate Dhurandhar 2 may cross Rs 1,000 crore on day seven. Industry watchers remain focused on its continuing theatrical run.
International performance
The sequel opened overseas to about USD 22.8 million across the opening weekend. That figure set a new benchmark for Hindi-language films abroad.
It recorded the highest single Saturday for an Indian film, at roughly USD 6.2 million. North American business was strong, with an estimated USD 10 million over the weekend and USD 14 million across an extended five-day frame.
