Vallecas Lawn Passes Inspection with High Marks

After thirty-five days without hosting a Liga match, Vallecas Stadium has finally passed inspection with high marks. Recent evaluations indicate significant improvements in the pitch’s condition, especially when compared to the previous matches against Mallorca and Osasuna.

Condition of the Pitch

Although some areas, particularly near the benches, still show deterioration, the overall quality of the grass is vastly improved. Timely Completion

The new turf was laid just before a crucial match against Rayo Vallecano. The last-minute replacement required the team’s training to be suspended at their home ground. A communication was released through the AFE regarding the poor conditions of both the stadium and the Ciudad Deportiva facilities.

Match Postponement

On the day of the scheduled match against Real Oviedo, the game was postponed just four hours prior to kick-off. LaLiga expressed concerns about player safety, citing the risk of injuries due to the state of the turf. Continuous rainfall had prevented the pitch from firming up and properly draining.

Improvement and Readiness

After a week of favorable weather, the conditions improved significantly. By the following Tuesday, the pitch lines were painted, allowing normal training sessions to resume. Player Iñigo confirmed that the pitch was now in playable condition before the upcoming match.
