Jonathan Majors Makes Movie Comeback Filming This Week in South Carolina

jonathan majors is shooting his first movie in four years as cameras roll this week in South Carolina on an untitled action film produced by The Daily Wire and Bonfire Legend, a move that resumes his screen work after a legal setback in 2023.

Jonathan Majors returns under an '80s–'90s action influence

Production has begun this week in South Carolina with director Kyle Rankin working from his own screenplay; the film’s story is said to be in the vein of Red Dawn and Toy Soldiers, both noted for plots about young groups defending against invading enemies. Rankin previously wrote and directed Run Hide Fight for the same production partners, and he is listed as director here as well.

Creative team and producers named on the project

Producers on the untitled picture include Ben Shapiro for The Daily Wire and Dallas Sonnier for Bonfire Legend, with Travis Mills, Lillian Campbell and Sydney Aucreman also producing. Caleb Robinson and Mike Richards are executive-producing the new movie for The Daily Wire, while Majors is an executive producer for Tall Street Productions; Jason Ramos is also listed among executive producers. Kristopher Kimlin is handling cinematography and David Guglielmo is the casting director.

The production design credit goes to Vincent Reynaud and Emma Fleming is the costume designer. These crew attachments are part of a team that reunites the producers and Rankin following their earlier collaboration on Run Hide Fight.

Where this fits in Majors’ recent work and plans

Majors’ career included roles in Creed III and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania before he was found guilty in 2023 of assaulting his former girlfriend; filming this week marks his first starring motion picture project since that ruling. He is also attached to star in the supernatural revenge thriller Merciless, a project that was first announced in summer 2024.

Cast details, the film’s official title and full plot remain under wraps for now, and distributors or release plans have not been disclosed. The production’s creative team includes casting, cinematography and design personnel drawn from recent indie and genre work.

Majors is represented by WME and Fox Rothschild, while Rankin is represented by UTA, Greenlit Management and attorney Stephen Clark.

With principal photography reported this week in South Carolina, the next confirmed milestones are the continuation of production on the untitled action film and Majors’ attachment to Merciless, which was announced in summer 2024.
