Seattle Seahawks news: Raiders target WRs coach Frisman Jackson; Cardinals interview DBs chief Karl Scott
Friday, Feb. 13, 2026 (ET) — Two members of the Seattle Seahawks’ assistant staff are drawing coordinator interest elsewhere, underscoring how attractive the Super Bowl champions’ pipeline of coaches has become this offseason.
Raiders eye Frisman Jackson for offensive coordinator
The Las Vegas Raiders are set to meet with Seahawks wide receivers coach Frisman Jackson regarding their offensive coordinator vacancy under new head coach Klint Kubiak. Jackson has spent the past two seasons guiding Seattle’s receivers, working closely with Kubiak during the 2024 campaign when Kubiak coordinated Seattle’s offense before departing for Las Vegas.
Jackson’s résumé spans multiple NFL and college stops. Before arriving in Seattle, he held the same receivers role with Pittsburgh in 2022–23, preceded by two seasons in Carolina, where he served as wide receivers coach in 2020 and offensive passing game coordinator in 2021. His first NFL assistant post came in 2017 with Tennessee. At the college level, he most recently spent two years at Baylor (2018–19), coaching wideouts and coordinating the passing game.
Player development has been a calling card for Jackson. Jaxon Smith-Njigba’s breakout 2024 season and subsequent rise to the elite tier of NFL receivers in 2025 unfolded under Jackson’s direction, a trajectory that has strengthened Jackson’s candidacy for a play-calling opportunity.
Cardinals interview Karl Scott for defensive coordinator
The Arizona Cardinals have interviewed Seahawks defensive passing game coordinator and defensive backs coach Karl Scott for their open defensive coordinator position. Scott has been a key holdover from the Pete Carroll era and was retained on Mike Macdonald’s staff, overseeing a secondary that turned takeaways and tight coverage into weekly staples.
Seattle’s pass defense last season ranked 10th in yards allowed per game (193.9), seventh in fewest passing touchdowns surrendered (20) and fifth in interceptions (18). The unit blended youth and experience, with rookie safety Nick Emmanwori producing 81 tackles (nine for loss), 2.5 sacks, an interception and 11 passes defensed. Veteran Coby Bryant added 66 tackles, four interceptions and seven pass breakups, while cornerbacks Josh Jobe and Tariq Woolen each posted 12 passes defensed.
Scott’s NFL beginnings trace to 2021 as Minnesota’s defensive backs coach. He previously built a strong collegiate track record across multiple programs, including a three-year run tutoring cornerbacks at Alabama from 2018–20.
Why Seattle’s assistants are in demand
Championship seasons tend to accelerate coaching mobility, and Seattle’s title run showcased development on both sides of the ball. On offense, Jackson’s position group supplied balance and explosive plays as Smith-Njigba evolved into a premier target. On defense, Scott’s secondary produced ball skills and discipline, qualities that translate directly to coordinator responsibilities. Under Scott, Seattle defensive backs have combined for multiple Pro Bowl selections in recent years, highlighted by Devon Witherspoon’s three nods.
That production, paired with the Seahawks’ organizational stability under Macdonald, has placed their assistants squarely on the radar for clubs seeking to elevate their schemes with proven teachers and communicators.
Impact on Mike Macdonald’s staff
Seattle entered the offseason knowing continuity would be tested. Retaining integral voices is a central theme for any repeat bid, and the Seahawks are no exception. Should either Jackson or Scott depart for coordinator posts, Macdonald would face pivotal replacements at two development-heavy positions: receivers and the defensive backfield. The staff has prepared for movement with internal depth and a broader coaching tree, but timing will matter as offseason installation ramps up.
The organization has navigated the early February window amid the afterglow of its championship parade, an unmistakable reminder of the stakes in maintaining the standard that delivered the Lombardi Trophy.
What’s next in the coordinator carousel
Both the Raiders and Cardinals continue to shape their coaching staffs in mid-February. Las Vegas is building out its offense around Kubiak’s vision, while Arizona, under new head coach Mike LaFleur, is finalizing its defensive leadership. With the league’s calendar turning toward late-month evaluations and roster decisions, coordinator hires often accelerate to align playbooks, staffing and free agency priorities.
For Seattle, the coming days bear close watching. Whether the Seahawks retain both assistants or prepare to backfill key roles, the interest alone affirms the staff’s growing reputation around the league.
