The Halifax Regional Centre for Education has closed all schools due to hazardous road conditions and ongoing cleanup efforts. Other educational institutions affected include:
- Chignecto-Central Regional Centre for Education – all schools are closed.
- Annapolis Valley Regional Centre for Education – schools are closed.
- South Shore Regional Centre for Education – schools closed; worksites opening delayed until 10:00 a.m.
- Tri County Regional Centre for Education – schools closed; worksites to open at 10:00 a.m.
- Strait Regional Centre for Education – schools closed.
- Dalhousie University – delayed opening until 10:00 a.m.
- St. Mary’s University (SMU) – delayed opening until 10:00 a.m.
- Mount Saint Vincent University (MSVU) – delayed opening until 10:00 a.m.
- All Nova Scotia Community College (NSCC) campuses – delayed opening until 10:00 a.m.
Weather Conditions
According to Environment Canada, the storm will transition to mainly cloudy weather later today. However, a 30% chance of light flurries persists throughout the afternoon and into the evening.
Allister Aalders, a meteorologist with 95.7, noted that the aftermath of the storm will include brisk northwesterly winds, gusting up to 50 km/h in some areas.
Travel Advisories
Travelers using Halifax Stanfield International Airport should be aware of an incident involving a Porter Airlines jet, which slid off the runway last night. The affected runway is currently closed while responses are underway.
Passengers are advised to check their flight status with airlines to avoid potential delays or cancellations.

During this severe weather, several locations serve as emergency shelters for individuals experiencing homelessness. These include:
