Ice Dancers Secure 7th in Team Event Rhythm Dance

Hannah Lim and Quan Ye, a South Korean ice dance pair, finished seventh in the rhythm dance segment of the team event at the Winter Olympics. The competition took place at the Milano Ice Skating Arena in Milan. This event marked the Olympic debut for both athletes.

Performance Highlights

Lim and Ye earned a score of 70.55 points, falling approximately five points short of their season-best score of 75.58, achieved at the Warsaw Cup in November 2025. Their score was composed of:

  • 39.54 points in the technical elements, assessing elements like twizzles, step sequences, and lifts.
  • 31.01 points in the factored components, evaluating overall presentation and artistry.

Top Competitors

The team event featured prominent competitors, with the United States duo, Madison Chock and Evan Bates, securing first place with a total of 91.06 points. Following them were Laurence Fournier Beaudry and Guillaume Cizeron from France, who ranked second with 89.98 points.

Upcoming Events

The figure skating competition continues with several key events scheduled:

  • Women’s singles short program: Friday afternoon
  • Men’s singles short program and free dance for ice dance: Saturday
  • Free skate for pairs, women’s singles, and men’s singles: Sunday

Team Points System

In the team event, point allocation occurs based on skater rankings. The top scorer receives 10 points, with subsequent placements earning points progressively decreasing by one. Lim and Ye earned four points for South Korea through their seventh-place finish.

Future Opportunities

Despite finishing seventh, Lim and Ye are gaining valuable experience for their upcoming individual events. South Korea lacks a pairs team, which means they can only accumulate one point in that discipline. Nevertheless, participating in the team event offers critical exposure to the competition environment at Milano Ice Skating Arena.

Historical Context

The team event made its Olympic debut in 2014. South Korea first participated in 2018 as the host nation but did not qualify for the 2014 or 2022 Olympics.
