Jesy Nelson Reports Theft of Car with Twin Girls’ SMA Medical Equipment

Jesy Nelson has appealed for help after a car was taken from her driveway in Brentwood, Essex.

The vehicle carried hospital medical equipment needed for her twin girls, who have been diagnosed with spinal muscular atrophy.

Details of the theft

The missing vehicle is a black Defender with registration JJ73SSY.

Nelson is offering a £10,000 reward for information that leads to its recovery.

She posted a public plea on Instagram and asked followers to DM her or contact police.

Children and care

The singer’s daughters are Ocean Jade and Story Monroe Nelson. They were born in May 2025.

Both twins have SMA and require specialist equipment for daily care and hospital appointments.

Advocacy and screening campaign

Following the diagnosis, Nelson began campaigning for newborn SMA screening at birth.

Her petition to add the condition to the newborn blood spot, or heel-prick, test has topped 100,000 signatures.

She met Health Secretary Wes Streeting in January to discuss the benefits of early detection.

Nelson became a patron of SMA UK in February while continuing public advocacy.

Policy progress

Health officials announced SMA screenings will roll out earlier than expected in the UK.

The program start date moved from January 2027 to October 2026.

About SMA

The NHS says SMA causes muscle weakness and movement problems.

The condition can also affect breathing, swallowing, bones, joints and cause muscle tremors.

Essex Police have been contacted for comment regarding the reported theft.
