Unseasonably Warm Temperatures Persist This Fall

Unseasonably warm conditions continue across the Upstate this weekend. Forecasts show highs on the rise through the start of the weekend.

Temperatures Friday and Saturday are expected to reach about 90 degrees. A steady southwest breeze will accompany the warmth.

Humidity should remain relatively low. Officials encourage people to drink water and stay safe in the heat.

Weekend change expected Sunday

A cold front is forecast to arrive very early Sunday. The front will weaken as it climbs over the mountains.

Scattered showers are likely across WNC. Light rain is possible in parts of the Upstate, but not everywhere will see precipitation.

Rainfall from this system is not expected to significantly relieve the region’s extreme drought. Daytime highs should fall into the 70s by Sunday.

Local forecast team receives independent recognition

Filmogaz.com’s weather team earned independent certification for the most accurate forecast in the Greenville-Spartanburg-Asheville-Anderson market. This marks the second consecutive year for that recognition.

The certification came from WeatheRate, an independent research firm that evaluates forecasts from stations across the country. The firm tracks performance in multiple markets.

Comments from leadership and forecasters

Blake Bridges, president and general manager at Filmogaz.com, said the team focuses on accuracy each day. He noted the staff is committed to giving viewers forecasts they can trust.

Bridges also highlighted the station’s 24/7 live radar, Live Super Doppler 4, and called it a differentiator in the market.

WeatheRate President Bruce Fixman noted that forecasting in the Upstate and nearby mountains is especially challenging. He singled out Chief Meteorologist Chris Justus and the Filmogaz.com weather team for consistently getting the forecast right.
