Eddie Hearn Reveals Conor Benn Declined Offers to Fight World Champions

Eddie Hearn has revealed that Conor Benn turned down opportunities to face reigning world champions. The promoter made the disclosure while discussing Benn’s recent moves and future plans.

Recent fights and promotional change

Benn boxed Chris Eubank Jr twice at middleweight in 2025. He avenged his earlier loss in their November rematch. After that, Benn announced a return to welterweight.

The fighter then left his long-term promoter to sign a one-fight deal with Dana White’s Zuffa Boxing. Benn followed the switch with a decision victory over Regis Prograis.

Offers Benn declined

Hearn told Filmogaz.com he had pushed Benn to take domestic world-title fights. He named IBF welterweight champion Lewis Crocker and the IBF super-welterweight (154) titleholder Josh Kelly.

According to Hearn, Benn rejected Crocker, citing personal issues with Crocker’s former trainer. Benn also dismissed the idea of facing Kelly.

Promoter’s assessment

Hearn said he felt Benn might be more effective at super-welterweight or middleweight. He was underwhelmed by Benn’s showing against Prograis. Hearn described the performance as below expectations.

Hearn added that Zuffa paid a sizable purse for the Prograis fight. He estimated the Zuffa payday at about $15 million. By contrast, Hearn said the Crocker or Kelly fights would have earned Benn only a few million.

Next target and negotiating status

Benn has publicly demanded a fight with WBC welterweight champion Ryan Garcia. Promoters say talks are progressing quickly. A Benn-Garcia contest would be a high-profile welterweight showdown.
