Bromsgrove Implements New Strategy to Combat Homelessness
Bromsgrove District Council has opened a public consultation on its draft Homelessness and Rough Sleeping Strategy for 2026–2031. The plan aims to prevent homelessness and reduce rough sleeping across the district.
Partnership and local reach
The strategy is developed with nearby authorities. Partners include Redditch, Malvern Hills, Wychavon and Wyre Forest.
Councillor Kit Taylor, the cabinet member for strategic housing, said partnership work is a council priority. He stressed the importance of hearing from local residents and service users.
Approach and past progress
The joint approach seeks to make homelessness rare, brief and not repeated. It builds on existing regional efforts and services.
Councils have previously supported thousands of people. They have also helped create new accommodation and boosted multi-agency collaboration.
Five core priorities
- Preventing homelessness by tackling root causes and helping people remain in their homes.
- Providing targeted support for those most at risk.
- Acting early to stop housing problems from becoming crises.
- Improving temporary accommodation and on-site support.
- Helping people rebuild their lives and avoid repeat homelessness.
How to take part
Residents, service users and organisations are invited to respond. The council wants feedback that reflects real needs and lived experience.
The consultation runs for six weeks and closes at midnight on Sunday, May 24. All responses will be anonymous and used to shape the final strategy.
