Album production
Reality Awaits was tracked in Costa Rica with producer Rick Rubin. The band completed work on the record in several international studios.

Support acts
Several artists will open on select dates. Confirmed supports include Thundercat, Cage the Elephant, Hamilton Leithauser, Fat White Family, Alex Cameron, and ÖLÜM.
Single and early reaction
The first single, Going Shopping, was initially shared on cassette. That led to fan recordings circulating before a live debut in San Francisco.
Press response has been mixed. NME awarded the song three stars and noted it avoids replaying past sounds while offering limited fire.
Band comments and festival moments
Guitarist Albert Hammond Jr. has said the Costa Rica sessions produced a looser feel. He suggested the environment influenced the performances and arrangements.
The Strokes also played Coachella 2026, where Julian Casablancas made a pointed comment directed at Jeff Bezos.
