Leading UK Travel Company Liquidates, Canceling All Holidays
A Hertfordshire-based travel firm has entered liquidation, cancelling bookings and leaving many customers without refunds. Regen Central Ltd lost its Air Travel Organisers’ Licensing (ATOL) protection on January 13.
Company collapse and ongoing sales
Companies House records show Regen Central Ltd went into liquidation after ATOL protection was withdrawn. Linked websites continued advertising and selling holidays until at least January 15.
The company specialised in package holidays across Europe and Southeast Asia. Popular destinations sold included Italy, Bali and Thailand, plus Dubai and Saudi Arabia.
Customer protection and the CAA response
The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) runs the ATOL scheme. ATOL protects package bookings that include flights, offering refunds or repatriation if a travel firm ceases trading.
The CAA said Regen Central Ltd had no outstanding ATOL-protected bookings when protection was removed. It clarified that accommodation-only deals, non-flight packages, and flight-only bookings with issued tickets are not ATOL protected.
Because there were no ATOL-protected bookings, the CAA said no refunds will be issued under that ATOL. Customers who believe they are owed refunds under Regen Central Ltd’s ATOL should contact the CAA at [email protected].
Trading names, history and scale
The Hertfordshire company was founded in 2009. It previously traded under names such as One Haji and Umrah, Regen Travels and Oneworld Travels.
The collapse exposed gaps in protection for travellers who booked products that fell outside ATOL coverage. The situation was described in industry reports as Leading UK Travel Company Liquidates, Canceling All Holidays.
Wider sector failures
Regent Central Ltd is among several UK travel firms to collapse in the past year. The CAA lists other failures including Ickenham Travel Group Ltd, Great Little Escapes LLP and Jetline Travel Ltd.
Dove Airlines liquidation
Separately, Indian charter carrier Dove Airlines ceased operations after financial difficulties. Founded in 2007 and based in Kolkata, it provided business and private charters.
The carrier lost a major investor in 2015 and stopped flying in 2022 after losing its final aircraft. Dove Airlines entered voluntary liquidation earlier this year, with a liquidator appointed to wind up the business.
