Bridgerton and White Lotus Stars to Host SNL UK
Saturday Night Live UK has named its next two hosts as the show returns from a short hiatus. Nicola Coughlan will take the stage on 25 April, followed by Aimee Lou Wood on 2 May.
Upcoming episodes and guests
Coughlan will appear with the Foo Fighters as musical guests. Wood’s episode will feature the singer Meek.
Nicola Coughlan is best known for Bridgerton. Aimee Lou Wood rose to prominence in Sex Education and The White Lotus.
The casting underscores how Bridgerton and White Lotus talent are being tapped for SNL UK episodes.
What has aired so far
SNL UK launched on Sky last month. The series has already featured a series of high-profile hosts.
- Tina Fey
- Jamie Dornan
- Riz Ahmed
- Jack Whitehall
Musical guests to date include Wet Leg, Wolf Alice, Kasabian and Jorja Smith.
Audience figures and reception
Early audience figures show a decline after the premiere. The launch drew 226,000 viewers.
Recent episodes averaged about 130,100 viewers. That audience still exceeded Sky One’s typical figures for the slot.
Overall reaction from viewers has been broadly positive, despite the dip in numbers.
Controversy surrounding Aimee Lou Wood
Wood’s upcoming hosting follows a recent controversy on the US SNL. The show issued an apology after a 2025 sketch mocked her appearance.
The sketch showed cast member Sarah Sherman in prosthetic teeth. Wood criticised the segment as “unfunny and mean” on Instagram.
Industry responses
Comedian Nick Mohammed praised the UK edition in comments to Filmogaz.com. He called it the best thing to happen to British comedy since The Office.
He added that the format’s arrival in Britain felt long overdue. Mohammed said the show captured an emotional resonance for him.
Critical take
Reviewer Nick Hilton told Filmogaz.com the production largely follows the original SNL formula. He credited producers Lorne Michaels, director Liz Clare and head writer Jonno Johnson for assembling strong talent.
Hilton argued the series plays it safe with the established format. He said the show shows lessons learned from its New York counterpart.
