Kevin Bacon Stars in Hulu’s New Drama ‘Southern Bastards’
Kevin Bacon has been cast to lead Hulu’s pilot Southern Bastards. The project adapts a graphic novel by Jason Aaron and Jason LaTour.
Premise and Bacon’s role
The story follows a tenacious military veteran who travels to Craw County, Alabama. She seeks her estranged father and uncovers violent local corruption.
Bacon will portray Earl. Earl is the son of legendary Sheriff Bert. He is a humble Army veteran aiming to reconnect with his estranged daughter.

The pilot is produced by Disney’s Onyx Collective, POV Entertainment, and Proximity Media. Fifth Season is also attached to the project.
Reinaldo Marcus Green will direct the pilot. Green’s credits include King Richard and We Own This City.
Writers and showrunner
Bill Dubuque and Nia DaCosta share story credit on the pilot. Dubuque penned the teleplay.
Matt Olmstead is set to serve as showrunner. He is known for work on network drama franchises.
