Who is David Haye
David Haye is a retired British boxer aged 45. He fought as a cruiserweight and later moved up to heavyweight.
Nicknamed “The Hayemaker”, he unified the cruiserweight division. He held WBA, WBC and WBO titles.
Heavyweight highlights
Haye beat Nikolai Valuev in 2009 to claim the world heavyweight belt. He lost that title in 2011 to Wladimir Klitschko.
He later staged several comeback bouts, including a defeat to Tony Bellew. Bellew was runner-up on I’m A Celeb 2023.
Post-boxing life
Haye retired from professional boxing in 2018. He now provides commentary and analysis for Sky Sports.
He adopted a vegan diet in 2014. His diet may be a factor in coming show eating trials.
Previous I’m A Celebrity appearance
Haye first entered I’m A Celebrity in 2012 and finished third. He shared that series with Ashley Roberts.
His 2012 stint made tabloid headlines for a naked shower incident. The jungle appearance boosted his mainstream profile.
Why he returned
Haye said travel was a big reason for signing up again. He had never visited South Africa before.
He noted the shorter travel distance compared with Australia. He also described wanting to detach from constant phone noise.
After his earlier series, he spent three months in Costa Rica living close to nature. He enjoys time away from the public screen.
