SFPD Arrests Suspect for Alleged Molotov Attack on OpenAI CEO’s Home

What happened
OpenAI’s corporate security reported the device was thrown at about 3:45 a.m. Pacific Time. The device landed near the property and went out, causing minimal damage and no injuries.
Officers responded to a reported fire near Chestnut and Jones streets at about 4:12 a.m., the San Francisco Chronicle reported. A short time later, police received reports of threats at OpenAI’s Mission Bay headquarters.
Suspect identification and arrest
Police circulated a department-wide email with a photo of an alleged arson suspect. The image, obtained by Filmogaz.com, shows a young man in a light hoodie and sweatpants standing by a white SUV holding a bottle.
Officers recognized the person from the photo and arrested him after the Mission Bay threat call. Police records list the suspect’s age as between 20 and 25, but that has not been verified.
Scene and public safety
Witnesses told Filmogaz.com that multiple police vehicles remained near the 400 block of Mission Bay Boulevard at about 9:30 a.m. The area was taped off while investigators worked.

An OpenAI spokesperson confirmed the attack and threats in a statement. The company thanked SFPD and city officials, and said it is assisting law enforcement with the investigation.
The suspect’s name has not been released. Public information officers for the San Francisco Police Department did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
