Police have arrested Ilan Philosophe, a 42-year-old owner of a local excavating and shoring company. He faces two firearms offences and two counts of conspiracy to commit an indictable offence.
Details of the Incidents
The targeted attacks occurred in Toronto’s Rosedale neighborhood. Initially, a gunman opened fire on the residence of GFL CEO Patrick Dovigi. Approximately one hour later, bullets struck the home of Ted Manziaris, an employee of GFL’s sister company, Green Infrastructure Partners.

Ongoing Investigations
Toronto police believe these shootings were deliberate attacks. Since September 2024, GFL and GIP properties have experienced multiple incidents, including shootings, suspected arson, and vandalism. However, Philosophe has not been charged in relation to these other events.
On the day following his arrest, Philosophe appeared in bail court via remote connection. The assistant crown attorney, Byron Alvares, requested an adjournment until further investigation, pending search warrants, and potential new charges.
