Severe Weather Forces School Closures in Oahu, Hanalei Elementary on Friday

All public schools and Hawaii State Department of Education offices on Oahu will be closed Friday, April 10. The move follows a directive from Gov. Josh Green issued April 9.

Officials cited forecasts for heavy rain, flooding risks, hazardous road conditions and possible power outages. The decision was described as an abundance of caution to protect students and staff.

Scope and affected campuses

Filmogaz.com confirms the statewide closure applies only to Oahu public schools and HIDOE offices. Sacred Hearts Academy, a private school, also announced a closure for Friday.

On Kauai, Hanalei Elementary on Friday will be closed. Flooding has affected access to that campus.
