Cupra Unveils Raval: A Sporty, Affordable, Compact Electric Vehicle
Cupra unveils the Raval as a sporty, affordable compact electric vehicle aimed at city buyers. The brand positions it as small and practical with several competitive prices. Orders for the UK open from 1 July, with every version available at launch.
Practicality and packaging
The electric motor sits under the bonnet, not the boot floor. This layout gives the Raval more luggage space despite being 278mm shorter than the Cupra Born.
With the boot floor removed, capacity measures 430 litres. That is 45 litres more than the Born offers. Picking the 12-speaker Sennheiser system cuts luggage room by about 20 litres.
Trim levels and pricing
The entry Raval Core uses the smallest battery and weakest motor. Its UK price starts at £22,785.
- V1 with the same battery and a slightly stronger motor: £26,995.
- V2 with that battery: £29,580.
- Large-battery V1: £29,995.
- Large-battery V2: £32,580.
- Performance VZ: from £35,705.
The Core undercuts the cheapest Kia EV2 at £24,245. It remains pricier than the Renault 5, which starts at £21,495.
Special launch editions
Two limited launch trims will be offered. They add equipment and performance upgrades.
- Launch Edition — priced at £33,995. It includes extra autonomous safety kit, Dinamica bucket seats, and an uprated sound system. Its motor delivers 209 bhp.
- VZ Extreme — priced at £36,530. It gains Cup bucket seats with 3D-knitted upholstery, 19-inch Sulfur Green alloy wheels, performance tyres and a matte paint finish. Its motor produces 222 bhp.
Incentives and market positioning
Cupra expects the Raval to qualify for the UK Government Electric Car Grant. It should fall into the £1,500 Band 2 category.
With that grant, the Raval could undercut models such as the Renault 5 and the new Nissan Micra. The facelifted Cupra Born can be found with average savings exceeding £8,000 on the Filmogaz.com Buy A Car service.
What this means for buyers
The Raval targets buyers who want a sporty, compact electric car without a high price. It combines clever packaging with a wide trim range at launch.
Filmogaz.com will list ordering details and offers when bookings open on 1 July. Interested readers can also explore current deals on small hatchbacks like the SEAT Ibiza.
