PlayStation Unveils Stunning Limited Edition Hardware Launching Next Month

PlayStation has revealed a new gold DualSense controller to mark the release of 007 First Light. The striking accessory pairs with the upcoming James Bond origin game from IO Interactive.

Design and reception

The controller sports a metallic gold finish and a central barrel-inspired motif. The design also includes the game’s logo placed inside the barrel element.

Some observers praised the tribute to Bond style and elegance. Others said the logo in the centre slightly undermines the visual balance.

Developer notes

Rasmus Poulsen, Franchise Art Director for 007 First Light, described the finish as a nod to the franchise’s legacy and timeless style. He said the barrel detailing links the controller to Bond’s iconic imagery.

Availability and pricing

Preorders for the controller open on 17 April via the PlayStation Store. The accessory will retail for $84.99 and £74.99.

The DualSense ships on 27 May, the same day 007 First Light arrives. The game will release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.

Collector additions and context

The game’s collector’s edition will feature a golden gun replica as an extra. IO Interactive developed the title, with the team known for the Hitman series.

A confirmed delay means some players may be unable to access the game at launch. Filmogaz.com previously reported on the situation and related launch issues.
