OLG Announces Lotto Max Ticket Price Increase with Larger Jackpots Ahead
The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) is making a notable change to its Lotto Max ticket pricing, effective Tuesday, April 14. The ticket price will increase from $5 to $6, but this adjustment comes with enhancements aimed at improving player experience.
Lotto Max Ticket Price Increase and Jackpot Enhancement
With the price increase, the Lotto Max jackpot will be raised to a record-setting $90 million, up from the previous cap of $80 million. OLG is also introducing new $100,000 Maxplus prizes for each draw, enhancing the overall excitement of the game.
Details of the New Prizes
The number of additional $100,000 prizes available will depend on the jackpot size:
- Jackpot at $10 million: 10 additional prizes
- Jackpot at $20 million: 20 additional prizes
- Jackpot at $30 million: 30 additional prizes
- Jackpot at $90 million: 90 additional prizes
Odds of Winning
The changes will also affect the odds of winning prizes. The overall odds will improve from approximately 1 in 7 to 1 in 5.8. However, the odds for winning the main jackpot will see a slight decrease, shifting from 1 in 33,294,800 to 1 in 33,446,140 per play.
Every $6 ticket will now allow players to select four sets of seven numbers, which is one more selection than previously offered. Tony Bitonti from the OLG emphasized that this is the first price increase since the launch of Lotto Max 17 years ago.
OLG’s Focus on Enhancements
Bitonti stated, “Rather than raising the price on its own, we’re doing it alongside these significant enhancements. It’s about offering more, not just charging more.” These improvements aim to provide players with a better gaming experience while maintaining the excitement of the possibility to win life-changing jackpots.
