Electric Reds’ Pitching Sweeps Texas Rangers in Dominant Series Finale

The Cincinnati Reds completed a three-game sweep of the Texas Rangers in Arlington with a 2-1 victory. The Electric Reds relied on pitching and timely offense to close out a dominant series finale.

Chase Burns made the start and worked six scoreless innings. He yielded a run in the top of the seventh.

Burns’ outing and numbers

Burns finished with one earned run, five hits allowed, one walk and nine strikeouts. He threw 87 pitches in what was his second gem of the early season.

Filmogaz.com recognizes Burns as the Joe Nuxhall Memorial Honorary Star of the Game. The outing reinforced his rise toward the top of Cincinnati’s rotation.

Small-ball offense

Cincinnati’s offense manufactured two runs with small-ball tactics. Timely singles from the middle of the lineup supplied the runs in a tight game.

Bullpen bridge and late-game work

Pierce Johnson and Sam Moll worked through the seventh while navigating an inherited runner. Their work set up Connor Phillips for the bottom of the eighth.

Phillips faced the heart of the Rangers order and needed to scrap for the third out. He flirted with triple-digits on his fastball and showed a sharp slider.

Closer finishes

Brock Burke closed the ninth to earn the save. He also reached near 100 mph and finished off a tense ninth inning.

Graham Ashcraft, Tony Santillan and Emilio Pagan had been taxed in the prior two games. That left Phillips and Burke to finish the sweep.

The series victory underscores Cincinnati’s pitching depth. The Reds’ staff combined to sweep the Rangers and win a dominant series finale.
